Cobalt Chrome dentures have a metal base plate or framework that sits on and around the natural teeth onto which denture teeth are attached by acrylic.
Cast metal dentures are generally considered to be the more permanent, longer lasting option. Unlike acrylic dentures, chrome castings are clipped to the natural teeth with clasps and incorporate rests into design to stop the denture moving.
Benifits of a chrome denture
- They are smaller, thinner and more precise then acrylic dentures.
- They are easier to adapt to, due to their close fitting and excellent retention
- They are lighter, stronger and more hygienic
- Great for patients with a gaging reflex due to their size and close fit
